Make memories with the whole family this holiday season at Christmas on the Square in historic downtown Tahlequah.
From 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, the Cherokee National History Museum and surrounding square will come alive with Christmas activities for all ages. Take a train ride around the grounds, write a letter to Santa, gather for a Christmas storybook reading and pose for a photo with a 6-foot-tall Cherokee-inspired nutcracker before watching the square light up for the season.
More holiday fun awaits at the gazebo with family photos with Santa Claus, complimentary cookies and hot apple cider. Inside the museum, kids can create a Christmas ornament to take home while families experience “The First Cherokee Christmas,” an exhibit sharing a unique moment in Cherokee history.
