Join us Friday, December 5, for “Christmas on the Square,” a special holiday event in historic downtown Tahlequah. A variety of festive activities will take place on the grounds of the Cherokee National History Museum from 4 – 6 p.m., including a train ride, letters to Santa, Christmas storybook reading, a photo op with a six foot tall Cherokee-inspired nutcracker and the lighting of the square.
On the square, visit the gazebo to enjoy family photos with Santa Claus along with complimentary cookies and hot apple cider. Then step inside the Cherokee National History Museum and explore the make-and-take area, featuring a festive Christmas ornament craft to take home for the tree. “The First Cherokee Christmas,” an exhibit presenting this unique moment in Cherokee history, also will be on display in the museum.
