About the Exhibit

Copy: Cherokee National Treasure Ron Mitchell is celebrated for his work as a painter, mentor and storyteller. In a new exhibit at the Saline Courthouse Museum, “Ron Mitchell: Painting Our Stories,” visitors can follow his artistic journey and the experiences that shaped his distinctive work.

From his early black-and-white architectural studies to the vibrant paintings that became his signature, Mitchell’s art depicts the stories, history and culture of the Cherokee people.

“Ron Mitchell: Painting Our Stories” will be on display at the Saline Courthouse Museum from Sept. 15, 2026, through Jan. 9, 2027.
