Sequoyah's Last Journey

Visit Sequoyah’s Cabin Museum in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to learn about the “Sequoyah’s Last Journey.” This exhibit explores the possible reason why Sequoyah undertook his journey to Mexico beginning in 1842 on which he passed away. Visitors will also learn about the mysteries surrounding Sequoyah’s final resting place that remain to this day.
This exhibit is in commemoration of the Cherokee Syllabary Bicentennial, which celebrates the 200th anniversary of Sequoyah’s introduction of the syllabary to the Cherokee people.
