“The First Cherokee Christmas” highlights the beginning of Christmas celebrations by Cherokees as first shared with us from the Moravians. The exhibit presents traditions that began at the first Christmas celebration up to the way it is celebrated today.

Visitors can enjoy fun activities at the exhibit. Kids can write letters to Santa at the Santa’s Mailbox station. And on December 3, December 10 and December 17, visitors can take home a bit of Cherokee Christmas with “make and take” ornaments.

View “The First Cherokee Christmas” starting November 29, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, through December 30 at the Cherokee National History Museum in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. View holiday hours HERE.
