The Cherokee National History Museum will host beadwork artist Seli Stewart from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 8. Stewart, a Cherokee Nation citizen residing in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, will showcase her intricate work in flat stitch, brick stitch and peyote stitch. Stewart first practiced beadwork as a form of self-care, and she enjoys helping others begin their own art journeys. She also works with textiles, leather and cornhusk dolls. Her pieces highlight Cherokee culture, stories and language.

This event is part of the museum’s “Cherokee Artist Showcase,” a series featuring Cherokee artists and their unique art forms. Admission is free and the artist will have works available for purchase — Stewart will bring small beadwork items and traditional clothing.
